Dr. Paul Kemmeter received his bachelor’s of science from the University of Michigan and his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. He went on to complete his residency at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and completed his fellowship in surgical critical care.

In addition to being a board-certified bariatric and general surgeon, Dr. Kemmeter is currently an Assistant Professor of Surgery for Michigan State College of Human Medicine and serves as the Associate Program Director of the GRMERC-MSU General Surgery residency program. He is also the Medical Director of Bariatric Surgery at St. Mary’s Health Care.

Along with performing bariatric surgery, Dr. Kemmeter also performs general surgery procedures, including acute care surgeries and advanced laparoscopy, like ventral and inguinal hernia surgeries, gallbladder surgery, appendectomies, and other emergency surgeries.

Dr. Kemmeter is board certified by the American Board of Surgery.
